1. You are always learning. Dating someone from a different race exposes you to cultures that you otherwise might be closed off from. My boyfriend is proud to say he could now lead a Shirley Chisholm fan club and may have shed a tear after watching Viola Davis’s epic Emmy speech. I’m always into learning, but with your significant other by your side, learning about traditions, visiting other countries, or just eating different kinds of foods is an even more enriching experience.Relationships Relationships Relationships Relationships Relationships
2. Your relationship pisses off racists. Unfortunately, we still live in a world where racism is very much alive. As harmless blog posts, cute Cheerios commercials, and the deep abysses of comments sections have taught us, there are still people out there who simply hate to see people of different races together. So if seeing a beautiful relationship can’t change their minds, I can at least make a hate-filled racist’s day a bit worse just by being with the person I love. I’ll take it.Relationships Relationships Relationships Relationships Relationships
3. To quote Aziz Ansari: “Anytime you have sex with someone of a different race, think about that for a moment. Because nothing feels better than orgasming while thinking about all the progress we’ve made in civil rights in this country.” God Bless America. Again and again.
